HAMMER YOUTUBE CHANNEL

Check it out! Hammer now has their own dedicated Youtube channel. This means if you're unable to find or just can't afford some of the titles suggested on our show, you'll be able to watch them on Youtube. I haven't messed around with it too much yet, but the quality looks to be MUCH better than some of the stuff we've watched on Youtube. There are even some HD titles.

In addition to classic films, there are also plenty of trailers for newer Hammer films.

THE HALLOWEEN HEIRLOOM

As you all know, Ryan and I are big fans of comic books. Ryan turned me on to who is now one of my favorite writers, Jamie S. Rich. Jamie writes a lot of independent comics (or so they would be considered compared to the mighty Marvel or DC), but he's also had a run at some more popular titles lately.

Recently, Jamie has borrowed the idea of the "daily sketch" from comic book artists and started doing writing doodles to get the creative blood flowing. He also offers short stories for commission now as well, something I wish more writers would do.

In a recent post on his blog, Jamie posted a "doodle" that I really enjoyed called The Halloween Heirloom. I thought it was right up our alley, so I wanted to share it with you HERE.

Jamie is better known for his Noir type books, but I really like his horror stuff. Spell Checkers 2 would have to be my absolute favorite that he's written. The art in the book is very manga-esque and I think that may be kind of a turn off to older comic book readers, but seriously, give it a read. It's straight up horror and it takes some incredible turns that you would not expect.

Hopefully we'll get the chance to read some more spooky stuff from Jamie very soon.

EPISODE 6

Episode six sounds like shit. I'm just being honest. Ryan and I screwed up on the levels and didn't bother checking when we started recording. We tried our best to salvage it, but it still sounds all robotic and wavy. We talked about recording the episode over again, but we had some good email, discussion, and jokes and if we recorded again, some of that would have been lost. So, we opted for good content over awful sound and posted it.

We apologize and promise that next time will sound much better. Thank you for muscling through it with us and we hope you enjoyed it anyway.

Our films for next months episode are The Plague of Zombies (1966), and Horror Hotel (or The City of the Dead, 1960).

I'm really looking forward to these!

EPISODE 5

Here it is! Episode 5. We've got a new microphone, a bunch of candy, and some tasty new beverages from Arizona Beverage Company. They should sponsor us.

We begin the episode with some chit-chat and then quickly move to Eric's all Cushing top 10 list. Pretty damn impressive! Thanks again, Eric! We then move on to discuss our movie reviews; Captain Kronos-Vampire Hunter, Frankenstein Created Woman, and then Night of The Demon for our special segment.

It was a damn good night and a lot of fun to get together and talk horror films. We hope you enjoy it!

This is one of my personal favorites so far. The emails were fantastic and Ryan and I had a lot of fun just chatting it up about these movies. One thing I will warn you about though--if you haven't seen Woman in Black yet, don't listen to the last part of the podcast. We'd hate to spoil one of the best horror movies we've seen in years for you!

I'll post some information about the films for next month's podcast in a later entry, but get on Netflix now and have them mail Frankenstein Created Woman to you. Trust me, you don't want to try and purchase this one. Well, in the U.S. at least...the cheapest I've found it here is $47! Hopefully it's a little more accessible in the UK.
