ENLIGHTENED!
We recently heard from our new pal, Des on the proper pronunciation of the names Gough and Pleasence. Gough is pronounced like "cough". Pleasence sounds just as it reads– like "Pleasant".
Our apologies for being dunces. We should have figured that out long before we started throwing out names.

EPISODE 19: SCARS OF DRACULA & LUST FOR A VAMPIRE
Hello Everyone!
I apologize for not posting anything on the blog for well over a month. I was extremely busy during the holidays and fell very, very ill right after. We should be back on track now with episode 19.
This episode is a whopping two hours! Ryan had watched a whole bunch of movies heading into this episode and we wanted to talk a bit about each of them. We didn't even get to talk about music at all this time and still topped the two hour mark.
During this episode, we discuss Lust for a Vampire and Scars of Dracula (our film choices from episode 18) to close the book on vampire movies for a while. We also discuss Ryan's new curiosity with Spanish horror films with the request for listeners and lovers of Spanish horror to write in with their thoughts.
We introduce Death Waltz Recording Co. and their incredible vinyl soundtracks to horror movies like Twins of Evil and Halloween. Beautiful vinyl and cover art! Our local record shop is an exclusive retailer of their merchandise. I wish I still had a tape deck in my car so I could listen to the Halloween soundtrack on tape.
During the Macabre Minute, we list our top 5 favorite "haunting" movies and categorize haunted house films. Feel free to let us know what your favorite haunting films are as well.

EPISODE 17: THE HALLOWEEN EPISODE (DRACULA: PRINCE OF DARKNESS & THE ASPHYX)
Hey! We're pretty damn proud of ourselves. We said we were going to post an episode on Halloween and we did it. Hooray and straight to hell with all the bastards that doubted us!
What exactly makes the Halloween episode different from our other episodes? Timing. That's all. Just timing. Everything else is the same. We talk about horror films and stuff and it's fun. We love this podcast and you should too.
We start out NOT talking about any books or music. We just head straight into the horrors with a bunch of movies that we've watched over the past few weeks. Ryan drops a bomb on everyone by admitting that he's just seen a classic for the first time in the past month. Jim babbles on about Fred Dekker movies that no one cares about, and there's some other fun stuff.
We eventually get to The Asphyx and Dracula: Prince of Darkness. Both great films, we thought, but John Weiners says otherwise with a scathing email about how bad he hates one of them.
For the Macabre Minute, we set up two heavyweight, classic horror films; Universal's classic The Mummy vs. Hammer's version of the same title. Who will win? Listen and find out!

TOO MUCH HORROR BUSINESS: THE KIRK HAMMETT COLLECTION
Metallica has become a very polarizing band. Once considered the absolute thrash band, they have now become the ensign for every meat-head in the country. The days of Pushead artwork on a Zorlac deck are gone and have been replaced by a cliché love of hot rod culture. Creeping Death passed the torch to St. Anger.
Still, there are those that don't agree with me. Plenty of people still love the music that Metallica is turning out and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. As for me, it's Blackened or nothing. The soundtrack to hell will be Fuel. I don't mean the cool hell either. I mean eternal torment.
Either way, Metallica will always hold a special place in every metal-head's heart and we are no exception. When Ryan's boss sent him a recent video that Kirk Hammett put out about his horror collection and new book, we were both very excited. We've known about Hammett's obsession with horror for a while, but we didn't know too much about his collection until we read the announcement about his new book, Too Much Horror Business: The Kirk Hammett Collection.
I'm pretty excited to get my own copy. From what I've seen, it looks like Hammett is in almost every picture in the book. I'm more interested in his collection than seeing him posing with statues of Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff, but I think it'll still be a fun book to look at. Of all the dudes in Metallica, Hammett bugs me the least anyway. If it were Ulrich, the deal would be off.

Episode 16 marks the return of Professor Cushing's Crypt of the Macabre!
To start off, we're very excited to discuss news of Jeff Dixon's new TV horror series. Read more about it over on his blog. Jeff's blog is also a lot of fun during October because he lists daily recommendations of horror films you should check out.
As normal, we discuss everything we've been reading, listening to, and watching, but there's a little more chit-chat with this episode due to our 2 month hiatus. We rate Quatermass and the Pit and The Vampire Lovers, then move on to The Macabre Minute with discussion on a few more films from Ryan.

YOU MISS US?
Hello, Everyone.
We miss the hell out of you. We really do.
Everything is going well, but we're still a bit busy with life and such. Ryan and his lovely wife had their baby boy earlier this month, so he's had his hands full with all the craziness that comes with having a new born. Everything is going well though and Momma and baby are home healthy and happy.
We've been talking a bit lately about films we want to watch and Ryan has been catching up on his new love; Night Gallery.
We'll be back at recording very, very soon. In the meantime, make sure to watch some horrors and let us know what you've been watching!

EPISODE 15: THE GHOUL & TWINS OF EVIL

During this episode, Ryan talks about his love for Rod Serling's Night Gallery that he's been watching on our new favorite television channel that also airs Svengoolie. We discussed the iconic paintings of the program and Ryan later found a few links about the paintings and how to get a hold of your own re-creation.
We also read a few emails from the official Crypt Librarian, Eric and our good friend, Brian. Eric brought up some childhood memories of watching Asylum, and it reminded Jim of a show that messed with him when he was a kid; The Darkroom. You probably don't remember it because it only ran for one season, but it made quite the impression on young Jim.
