Get Ready...

Ryan and I met up for lunch today at one of our favorite Mexican dives located right next to one of our oldest local comic shops. We talked a bit about Christmas and our families, but as always, the discussion eventually ended up with us talking about music, comics, and horror movies. Oh, and how much Ryan dislikes Sammy Hagar's music (you'd be surprised at how much that comes up, actually).

Anyway, we discussed when we want to get together to record episode 2 and I thought I'd post something to remind everybody to watch The Blood On Satan's Claw and The Mummy. More importantly, send us some email so we can discuss your comments about the films during the podcast!

If you're having a tough time finding The Blood on Satan's Claw, send us an email and let us know. The DVD is available in the UK on Amazon for pretty cheap, but we have a tough time finding a region 1 copy in the states. The Mummy is really easy to get a hold of and is only like $5 on Amazon. I'm actually going to order it tomorrow and all of you are invited to watch it with me. I'm serious.

Also, Ryan came across a fantastic British horror fan blog yesterday called But We're British! and I thought you'd all enjoy reading some of the reviews. Check it out and let Andy (Winward, not Bloor) know what you think. Well, let Andy Bloor know what you think too. About anything. Andy just loves getting email (Bloor, not Winward).

Cheers, Andy!

That's it then. Do your homework and we hope to hear from you soon!

The Hammer Vault

One of our favorite nerd websites, Topless Robot, posted a review of The Hammer Vault. Ryan emailed it to me today when he saw it. I haven't seen inside it yet, but I bet it's incredible. I'm excited to see it!

It's available December 20th in the US. I'm sure it's already been released across the pond.

Check out the Topless Robot review here.

Any of you fellas watched (or re-watched) The Mummy or Satan's Claw yet?

Episode 1!

Welcome, British horror fiends!

In our first episode, you'll get to know a bit about your hosts; our background, our tastes in horror, and why we've decided to conduct a podcast about British horror films.

Join us as Ryan disses modern horror, we list our top ten favorite horror films (not the "best" horror films, but our favorites), and we talk about the single scariest film we've seen (it's a tough one!).

Films for next month: The Mummy (Hammer, 1959), The Blood On Satan's Claw (Tigon, 1970)

Intro: Black Sabbath--Black Sabbath

Closing Song: Hellhammer--Messiah

WELCOME BRITISH HORROR FANS!

Welcome to the official blog of Professor Cushing's Crypt of the Macabre podcast.

We are a podcast dedicated to British horror films produced in the 60's and 70's. That's not to say we won't talk about other things--music, comics, and other horror movies, but our main focus will be on classic horror films from the UK. These films changed the way we view horror and helped define the genre today.

We want this podcast to be a little different. At the end of the first episode, we're going to pick two movies to watch. You'll have a whole month to watch the movies before we record again. The podcast itself will be our forum to sound off. We'd like as much input from our listeners as possible before the next podcast. Let us know what you liked about the films, what you didn't like, and any other comments or suggestions. We're also open to suggestions on what movies you'd like the group to watch!

Keep in mind that we're only fans. We'll do our research, sure, but we're not here to teach you about British horror. Our goal is to gather together like-minded fans and have some fun watching and talking about horror movies.

We'll discuss all of this a little more in the first episode.

We look forward to talking with you all soon.

Cheers!
