TCM

No, not Turner Classic Movies.

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE!

Mocata lives in Texas and gets to do all kinds of fun, horror related activities. When Jim mentioned on Twitter that he'd recently watched TCM again, Mocata sent these great pictures.

The cemetery & gravestone from the film

The iconic gas station/BBQ

Always great to hear from you, Mocata and thanks for sending these in!

THE VVITCH PLAYSET

Our friend John wrote in recently and sent us this link. It's too good not to share.

Thanks for writing in, John! We love you.

EPISODE 44: SYMPTOMS & THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS

Hi Everybody!

We didn't make our Halloween deadline because of domestic problems in Jim's town. Let's be honest though--we rarely make deadlines. after a few years you should be used to it by now. We're not proud of it, but it's kind of the norm.

For those of you who have not downloaded it already, you can find episode 44 right HERE.

We discuss a bunch of music and read some great emails & then discuss our favorite animals in horror during the Macabre Minute. As always, we have some good discussion about the films we picked--Symptoms and The Fearless Vampire Killers.

Our films for next time are both from the 60's:

Ryan picked a Hammer classic, The Gorgon (1964)

Jim's pick is Eye of the Devil (1966)

EPISODE 43: NIGHTCOMERS & CRY OF THE BANSHEE

Hi everybody and welcome back to another soon-to-be-famous episode.

Go ahead and poor yourself a drink. Sneak on upstairs and put on your favorite night-clothes, slippers and smoking jacket. While you're doing that, the help will light the fire in the study and prepare your favorite pipe. Take your time; there's no hurry. When you come down, pour yourself another scotch, pair your Beats with your phone and settle in to your favorite leather armchair. You, my friend, are in for a spectacular treat of Marlon Brando, Trap Them, topless so-called witches, Solomon Grundy, jokes and, of course, The Macabre Minute.

Just click here to begin.

Our movies for next time are...

The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967)

Symptoms (1974)
Do your homework & we'll see you around Halloween!

MOCATA

Eric (Mocata) has a whole lot of film and music knowledge crammed in that fat head of his, so we highly recommend checking out his blog and getting in touch with him.

Long live Mocata.

EPISODE 42: HOUSE OF WHIPCORD/THE INNOCENTS

As the dog-days of summer draw on and hopefully near their end, we return to spoil your hearing with another discussion of the unholy. Don't worry about adjusting the EQ on your digital device: yes, we're from the United States. Yes, we're Westerners on top of that. You shouldn't mind though. This is the 21st century, after all. Those of you who wish to cast judgement are no better than those to who would open a reformatory to torture young women in the 1970's! Or perhaps scare a child to death by claiming they know there is an apparition possessing them to act out...

You get where we're going with this?

Good. That means you've done your homework and you are welcome to listen to episode 42 where we discuss House of Whipcord and The Innocents

After the reviews and general unpleasantness, we have a pretty good Macabre Minute. You'll want to check it out.

Our films for episode 43 are:

Cry of the Banshee (1970)

AAAANNNNDDDD  The Nightcomers (1971)

Here's why Jim picked The Nightcomers--

"Strips the artistry of the Henry James original and leaves us with a hairy, overweight, naked and sweating Brando brutally kneading Stephanie Beacham's breasts into new shapes..."
--Brian Holcomb

Sounds good to me.

EPISODE 41: The Flesh and the Fiends/Crucible of Horror or Plague of the Reptiles.

Hello again Friends!

What a shit-show this is! These aren't the best movies we've reviewed, to be honest. BUT, we still have a great time and talk about some good films, music and even tattoos. Christmas sweater tattoos to be exact.

Enjoy what you hear and make sure you do your homework!

Films for episode 42-

Jim's pick:

The Innocents (1961)

Ryan's choice:

House of Whipchord (1972)

Lastly, as we mentioned during the episode, The Librarian sent us over a pretty cool video from a band called Wolfie's Just Fine. The track is called A New Beginning.

EMBALMER

We all know that metal and horror movies go hand in hand. Death Metal is, after all, the horror genre of music and vice versa. You already know our undying love for both. Our good pal "Mocata" sent us these pictures to drive home the point. This Embalmer set is AMAZING. Thanks again for sharing Mocata and keep them coming!

EPISODE 40 REDUX: THE HORROR OF FRANKENSTEIN & THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES

Hey Everybody!

Jim just got back from Maui and he's got a serious island hangover. He's tan, happy and still extremely overweight. Which is sad, but at least you can't see him. The real loser in all of this is Ryan. You know, having to see Jim and all.

To the point: Episode 40 is here, here, and here. We apologize for losing the first recording, but it sounded like "two fax machines having hate sex" or something to that effect. But, this episode is better anyway. We talk waaaaay to much about music, read some email, discuss the great General Chit-Chat, and talk "deliciously" about The VVitch.
BE WARNED: our discussion about The VVitch contains spoilers! If you have not seen the film yet, DO NOT listen to the Macabre Minute until you have watched it! In fact, viewing the movie is mandatory before listening to this episode.

Our films for next time:

Ryan's pick-

Crucible of Horror or The Corpse (1971)

Jim's Pick-

The Flesh and the Fiends (1960)

EPISODE 39: BLACKANTHROPY! or THE BEAST MUST DIE/THE OBLONG BOX

Welcome back, Fiends!

In Episode 39 you'll hear us throw out a couple of top five lists during the Macabre Minute, talk metal as usual, and disagree on The Beast Must Die! We also have a few emails to read from Des and the Librarian!

For next time:

Jim's pick-The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971)

Ryan's pick- Horror of Frankenstein (1970)

I hope the movies are as awesome as the posters are!

EPISODE 37: "MIND THE DOORS"!

Hey, hey!

We're back with episode 37 and some good stuff for you to listen at. Jim was in his jammies this time. All fat & old & hairy. Ryan was looking dapper as usual in his "Super-Uncle" tee. We had some Arizonas (our not-sponsor), some cinnamon flavored toothpicks, and some movies that we wanted to toss your way.

We sure hope you like what you hear. We aim to please.

The next films we'll discuss?

Well, those are listed right here along with some artistry to enhance your visual experience:

Frightmare, aka Cover Up (1974)

and The House that Dripped Blood (1971).

Man, we sure love Ingrid Pitt. She's the best.
