EPISODE 35: THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN & PSYCHOMANIA

It's been a long time, folks. Good to be back. Episode 35 is here.

First off, we would like to thank you all personally for your genuine concern for our well-being. The well wishes you sent were gratefully received. Thank you very much.

We finally get around to reviewing our picks for 34 and read some emails that had an inch of virtual dust on top of them. We discuss quite a load of horror films from all over the genre and then move on to talk about final voting for the 3rd annual Slimy Limey Awards (psssst...you can see the poll over to the right of this post). Voting on the blog will end on midnight on 11/27, so don't doddle!

For episode 37 (no homework for ep.36 because of the awards) Jim picked The Reptile (1966) and Ryan picked the filthy Raw Meat from 1972.

EPISODE 34: HORROR HOSPITAL & LEGEND OF THE WEREWOLF.

The unofficial results are in: Legend of the Werewolf won. That's how it's looking anyway. Only 2 of our 6 listeners voted, but they pull a lot of weight.

We were really quite organized for this episode, but for some reason it just didn't go as well as planned. Maybe it was our new PC. Maybe it was a lack of sleep or possibly an excess of weight. We may never really know the reason, but we promise that you will enjoy the episode as much as usual.

We did not record a Macabre Minute for this episode. We used the time to list the films for the 3rd annual Slimy Limeys. Can you believe it's that time again? Wow. We've been doing this for almost 3 years. That means we've gained 1 listener a year! Hooray! All joking aside, it is quality that counts and all of the listeners in our humble community contribute every month. I wouldn't give our listeners up for 1 million listeners that never write in. That's the truth!

Please listen to Episode 34  to hear the rules for preliminary Slimy Limey voting. In the next couple of days, Jim will post all of the films up on this very blog so you can vote one winner to the loser column and one loser to the winner column.

In the meantime, you need to do your homework:

Ryan's choice for episode 35 is The Evil of Frankenstein (1964)

Jim's pick-Psychomania (1973)

Also known as The Death Wheelers

Until next time-

UH-OH...

Friends,

We have a tie!

We need to know which film you like more out of Horror Hospital and Legend of the Werewolf. We tried to get a hold of our tie-breaker (The Librarian), but he was so coked out of his mind that he couldn't figure out how to answer his phone. We still haven't heard from him concerning the issue because of his incarceration after killing that prostitute and lighting his 1982 Ford Ranger ablaze with her body in the back. We all have hobbies, please try not to judge. He's usually a bit more organized.

Anyway, in the comments below, please let us know which film you enjoyed more--Horror Hospital or Legend of the Werewolf.

Please leave your vote in the comments section below.

EPISODE 33: SCHIZO & THE CREEPING FLESH

It's been a fun-filled summer full of road trips, the local amusement parks and a few horror movies here and there. Now it's about time to send the kiddies back to school and pray that this awful heat subsides. Halloween is right around the corner and we're getting ready for the third annual Slimy Limey awards. My, My, time does fly. That means we've been at this for nearly 3 years and we haven't even scratched the surface of what British horror has to offer.

In this episode, we discuss our love for Sir Christopher Lee, our disdain for people who thrive on real life tragedy, and we even talk about some horror films we've watched. Tune in and dig the pod, kids!

Our picks for next time:

Jim-Horror Hospital (or Computer Killers) (1973)

This could be Jim's favorite movie poster of all time!
Ryan's pick-Legend of the Werewolf (1975)

This one is really awesome too!

EPISODE 32: VAULT OF HORROR/WIGFINDER GENERAL & A GREAT LOSS

I sat down this morning to update our blog and post the link to episode 32 when I decided to change this a bit and talk about the passing of one of our most beloved and favorite actors, Sir Christopher Lee.

I found out about his passing from Ryan, who sent me a text when he read the news. It's a real downer to know that Lee is no longer around, but he lived a very incredible life to a  wonderful age. He was a hell of a lot of fun to read about, to watch on screen and to listen to. The Dos Equis guy couldn't hold a candle to Lee. I really don't have much to say about his character acting and whatnot-- I'll leave that to pretentious Californians on Twitter--what I will say is that watching Christopher Lee brought me to love horror films (actually movies in general) a lot more and he genuinely brought a bit more joy to my life through his entertaining. A true British gentleman and a great talent.

EEPISODE 30: KILLER'S MOON & THE BLOOD BEAST TERROR

Hi everybody!

This is Jim. I'm in Rock Springs, Wyoming right now sitting in a hotel room. I'm here for work. If you don't know where Rock Springs is, go Google it. It's really not an exciting place, but I have always loved Wyoming and I enjoy coming here every so often.

Anyway, because I'm away from my laptop I'm posting this from the Blogger app on my iPad. There won't be as many pictures because it's kind of a pain to use the app compared to using a regular computer. This is something that you will need to deal with. I love you guys.

Here is the link to episode 30—http://traffic.libsyn.com/cryptofthemacabre/Episode_30.mp3.

Enjoy it. Ryan and I had a blast recording it and we hope you like it too.

More pictures of The Librarian to come...

AWWWWW, SHHHIIIIIITTTTT!!!

We messed up. We watched THE BRIDES of Fu Manchu instead of THE FACE of Fu Manchu. We both watched the film and neither of us caught the error. Then we went ahead and reviewed it on episode 29. Then we edited it and STILL didn't catch the error. Then, right when Jim went to post it, an email came through from Darren. It reads, " I am also looking forward to your review of the Face of Fu Manchu – that brings back childhood memories."

What?

Did we read that right?

Shit, check the blog—The Face of Fu Manchu

Wait, check our handwritten show notes...awww, SHIT!

How did this happen?!?

Truth be told, Fu Manchu isn't horror so we decided to publish the episode anyway. The Fu Manchu movies are a lot of fun to watch, but they aren't really horror. They're not even considered a thriller in our unprofessional opinions. Because of this, The Brides of Fu Manchu ( or The Face of) would lose out in voting to even the worst of horror films. Automatic disqualification. So we don't feel as bad about watching the wrong film as we would have if we mixed up our Dracula films instead.

We apologize to any Fu Manchu devotees who we may have offended.

We promise to double check the title of the film before we watch it next time.

Please stop yelling.
